SENIOR PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

Elkhart, Indiana

The Production Supervisor must understand goals and philosophies of the Company and apply them to daily operations. The Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of a particular manufacturing line including throughput, quality, productivity, safety, retention and staffing. The Supervisor is also responsible for managing the assembly line leadership team to ensure all goals are met, and conducting meetings with plant group leaders and managers on a regular basis.

Essential Job Functions

  • Knowledge of manufacturing principles including line balancing, standard work, waste elimination (NVA) and other basic Lean practices
  • Knowledge of mechanical assembly (i.e. air tools such as screw guns, drills, and sanders)
  • Ability to manage, lead and achieve production targets while minimizing distractions and hit goal expectations
  • Must be a great creative problem solver and critical thinker
  • Capability to step into the Plant Managers role when needed for redundancy
  • Will be responsible or work with Quality and Production Engineering for coordinating activities of the production line within his/her and other departments to monitor the quality of production and take corrective actions to remedy any deficiencies
  • Will be responsible to oversee all aspects of training and developmental plans leveraging the various Team or Group Leaders to accomplish.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and see that the department is safe at all times utilizing 5S and other basic housekeeping processes
  • Ensure employees follow company policies, procedures, and safety rules & guidelines
  • Must lead and support the Talent Management System
  • Will ensure Group Leaders adequately monitor Employee attendance (points system) and weekly time keeping systems to consistently track and approve to ensure timely payroll exectutionSupervisor must have the leadership skill to direct employees coupled with the ability to be firm, fair, and consistent

Requirements

  • 4 year degree in business, operations management, or engineering
  • Minimum of (5-10) years leading a group in a manufacturing setting
  • Familiar working within a quality system
  • Skilled trainer and motivator of manufacturing employees
  • Must be an excellent communicator and team motivator
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
